Recently, I’ve fitted several Anker GlassGuard screen protectors to 4" & 4.7" iPhones. I’ve been impressed how closely they match the feel of the original screen, given the excellent protection they offer (Apple, take note!)
I’ve found a few simple things make the fitting process a lot smoother. Hopefully these guidelines also help you get the job done right, first time. 😄
- It’s helpful if the iPhone rests on a tactile surface during GlassGuard installation. Microfibre cloths work much better than a plain tabletop as they prevent the iPhone sliding around, and stop the rear facing camera getting scratched. I’ve had best results using a worn-in microfibre (fewer loose fibres) with the ‘flat’ side of the cloth in contact with the back of the phone.
- Have a desk lamp shining on the work surface – it makes aligning the GlassGuard with the screen edges easier, particularly on the 4.7" models where the GlassGuard doesn’t cover the entire screen bezel.
- Watch the Anker YouTube video several times before install & remember to use the dust removal label – this step is easily forgotten 😉
- Once the GlassGuard is lowered into place for final fitting, let it sink onto the phone face for best results (resist the temptation to apply pressure). This means waiting for 20-30 seconds without seeing much happen, but we’ve found doing this almost eliminates adhesion pockets, especially on the 4" iPhone.
- If there are bubbles once the GlassGuard is in place, don’t panic. Come back to them after several hours if they won’t initially shift, as sometimes they will later on. Also, pockets don’t always need to be pushed to the edge either, so try using the plastic spreader in a variety of directions across the phone face. It’s surprising how they suddenly disappear!
Good luck!
